Both GDI grab and DShow still run very poorly in ShareX, almost no difference between them, using GPU or CPU encoding.Īdditionally, in this issue, created a fork that used Direct2D instead, but despite building it, it didn't seem to offer any improvement. If anyone who contributes to ShareX cared about fixing it, they'd have some response after 6.7 years that wasn't an excuse.įfmpeg, while I don't know much about encoders, appears to support GDI, DirectShow and Desktop Duplication API (via ddagrab) the latter not being an option in ShareX, while the other two are (GDI grab vs Screen Recorder). This, in turn, can contribute to lower latency and improved frame There's no point creating a new issue when the first one you linked, from 2016, still serves as a hub for the issue itself, and I've already commented in it back in January. On the other hand, OBS Studio directly accesses internal buffers via the native OS API, which cuts down on additional data copying operations. This can not only slow your computer but also impact the performance of other applications, causing dropped frames and resulting in a choppy video output. Consequently, attempting to capture high resolution or high framerate video with gdigrab can consume a large amount of CPU resources. This means it doesn't take advantage of the dedicated video processing capabilities that modern GPUs provide. It operates mostly in the system's CPU, not the GPU. FFmpeg leverages gdigrab that utilizes the Windows GDI (Graphics Device Interface) API, a legacy graphical subsystem present in all Windows versions. The underlying problem lies with ShareX's dependency on FFmpeg for video capture. In the official Discord server of ShareX, when I mentioned this concern, the response I received was as follows: "ShareX isn't intended for recording either high resolution nor high framerate, use OBS". Unfortunately, there aren't many alternatives. You can refer to issues #1816, #5384, and #5688 as they relate to your situation. The problem you have is not related to this particular issue, you should create a new issue instead. If "Credit" is a matter of Global recognition, then it is fair to say that The Hip has not had enough of it. Had the American Commercial Machine taken up The Hip, I am afraid that they would have been corrupted and made into something PoPish, fake and dismal. And in my estimation, both the band and their fans (that border on fanatical) profited greatly for it. The Hip always felt natural, true to their art, passionate about their music. The hip did not succumb to the degradations of commercialization that so many bands get tied up in. And although It makes me sad that this amazing group of performers never caught on in the greater United States, over all I'm actually happy this should be the case. Of all the concerts I have been to, I count each of these experiences among my most treasured. I've seen them play at the Corel Center, at a small bar in Ottawa and at the Sugar Bush. And although my fascination with their music began to fade with Phantom Power, I still count them among my favorite bands and know all the words to the majority of their songs by heart from having listen to them all many hundreds of times over the years. It's the kind of music that makes every young boy want to learn how to play guitar and drums if only just to jam your heart out along with the prolific number of tracks this band has put out. We grew up with their music, the Quintessential bar music, bonfire party music and all around good timin music. I remember as a young teenager when The Hip first came on the scene. The hip has a (Relatively speaking) huge following along the boarder towns near to Kingston and all along the St. I just want to say as an American that grew up on the Canadian border, and one who has spent a fair amount of time in Kingston, Ottawa, Cornwall, Toronto an Ontario, Not all Americans are complete jack off's. You're right, the Hip don't get enough credit, its cuz the huge world of consumers live in America. Many Years ago at this point, MadScooter said: Cavalry song:Īre the souls of all dead troopers camped It was coopted by landlubbers and appears in an old post-Civil-War U.S. Where the grub is good and the bunks are cleanīut the traditional idea of Fiddler's Green is much older than that. Then I'll make the haven and the Fiddler's Green In her rusty hold, where the breakers sound Then there's "Final Trawl" by folk singer Archie Fisher: Where the weather is fair and the dolphins do playĪnd the cold coast of Greenland is far, far away Where fishermen go when they don't go to Hell Now Fiddler's Green is a place I've heard tell There's not much else to say about what this "means."įolk singer John connolly did a song called "Fiddler's Green" in 1970, which includes these lines: Downie sticks with the nautical metaphor by suggesting that the child has "gone alee" (downwind) and comparing his heart failure with the sinking of a wooden ship. Fiddler's Green is a kind of "sailor's heaven," where sailors go when they die. Truth be told it's partly the reason I bought my wife a GLC AMG rather than spending half the money on a more practical and reliable Ford (though the AMG does have a significant performance advantage). Commencal Meta TR 29 Brit Edition review. Not to say that's an invalid reason for buying a bike, but when it boils right down to it that's the only reason I can think of for somoene buying a Yeti or Santa Cruz. 2021 Commencal META TR 29 set loose w/long & slack geometry, plus longer travel. I would have bought the Range there and then if they had one for sale in my size but ended up with the Spartan as it was ever-so-slightly better equipped than the Enduro for the same price and I found water bottle access was better for me.Īs much as I loved riding the SC, there is no doubt in my mind that anyone riding one bought one because of the name and not because of any inherent performance advantage. They make bikes just as good as everyone else, but like Yeti they cost more for any given level of component spec and in my opinion that's just a no-go for me. I will never say Santa Cruz makes a bad bike because they don't. They were so close in fact that it really did just come down to price/parts. This year, with all of the changes to the format of our Trail Bike of the Year test, we have had to shuffle down Commenal’s pecking order to the entry-level Meta TR 29 Ride. They were all decent (although I never really got the feel for the Slayer). Price: 2,699 > Trail Bike of the Year 2020 Last year, we tested Commenal’s top-end Meta Trail 29 British Edition. In 2018 I decided it was time for another upgrade so I spent a couple of weeks at Whistler and demoed a Bronson, Spartan, Enduro, SB6, Range and a Slayer. When 27.5 bikes started becoming a thing I tried a Troy and liked it but didn't love it and ended up buying a 2015 Specialized Enduro the following year. Back in 2011 I bought a Devinci Dixon and thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved my V10, had a Bullit that I rode for 5 years that I loved. I would still be very interested to see a double blind test on a variety of suspension products, not sure it would be as clear cut as the fork colours might have us believe I can't see manufacturers lining up for it though! If you had to find one on steep discount for it to be a good deal, their pricing model is broken. Safety is more about understanding your equipment, not, as the H&S gang at work would have you believe, spending as much as possible.Īs for having a more pleasurable ride on more expensive equipment - 100% agree. I don't doubt in top level racing there is a speed benefit to be had from better suspension, but if you don't ride your bike enough to know how your fork reacts, then you're going to be crashing no matter what you are running. When is the last time you avoided a crash because you were riding a Lyrik Ultimate rather than a Revelation RC? If you think any decent racer couldn't smash a track on basic suspension at far higher speeds than any weekend warrior on top end parts, you are dreaming. No, I basically just said that rider skill contributes to safety more than suspension or brakes do. |
